2 years in the blink of an eye, how time has flown by, yet you are still in our thoughts and prayers every day. May your nets continue to overflow and the swells high enough to keep things interesting!

Thirty-nine candles. Never will times be absent! The mug is half full.2 years in the blink of an eye, how time has flown by, yet you are still in our thoughts and prayers every day. May your nets continue to overflow and the swells high enough to keep things interesting!

Happy Birthday Andy! I'm thinking back 39 years to the time a little tiger with a mop of red hair was thrust upon the world. It's amazing how the birth of a single baby can have world-wide impacts on people he would never meet. www.smiletrain.org

Life is Eternal. "I am standing upon the sea-shore a ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at lengths she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There! She's gone." Gone where? Gone from my sight-that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her: and just at the moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone" there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There she comes!" Author - Henry Van Dyke

OMG, I had no idea this happened. I'm still shocked. I knew Andy & John , well most of the family way back in the day. Between Tully Lake camp, and Cortland. Wow im at a loss. Lots of great memories, fun times. I went searching on facebook for Andy & John and learned this. I am sorry to the Race family. Not sure what to say....

Andy was my close, trusted friend and confidant. I was the person Andy first started fishing with 10 years ago, and we remained close friends ever since. We fished both east and west coasts together, and worked the same fisheries out of Alaska. His employers always valued him for his work ethic and wanted him back. He was planning to buy a boat where we would fish it on the west coast out of San Francisco. We depended on each other. I miss him. His loss changed my future. I miss his intellect, his vast knowledge of information and mostly his style of humor. I miss him so much. May he rest in peace.

Andy was a very special person. He lived every moment to the fullest with such integrity, vigour and zest. He was also tender, sweet and funny and never lost his edge. He was a true and trustworthy friend whose intrigue with the concept of 'bodhi' was timely. I will cherish my memories and hold him always in a special place in my heart. I'm not really ready to speak about all this yet, but I wanted the Race's to know that I stopped by, and to thank you so much for the emails and texts you've sent and keeping me in the loop. You welcomed me as family when I came home to Cortland for Andy's final send-off and that gave me more comfort than I can ever tell you. As the days go on I know I'll have to figure out what comes next...Andy was my boyfriend, my lover, my best friend and my anchor in this world for over 20 years...I always considered him the only permanent fixture in my life, and everything else as temporary...so many people have commented and remembered him by the "adventures" he had, but to those he let into his heart he was so much more. For now I'll keep on keepin' on, but I miss you so much baby...

Thx so much Kathy for sharing this special remembrance to your dear brother, Andy. I didn't know him but I have heard lots of wonderful stories from you and Carla and he was an AMAZING guy who lived life to it's fullest. Knowing both you and Carla, how could he be anything less than WONDERFUL as the apple(s) don't "fall far from the tree." This web site is such a terrific way to honor his memory and remember those special times with stories and photographs that I look forward to seeing more of. What a handsome guy, again not surprised because he has two beautiful sisters who I know and love.

And through it all, your spirit's alive

You are the memory that lives on forever
The shadow that stands by our side
This is the sound that keeps us together
We are the ones who survive

Farewell my brother
You're off to the big ship in the sky

What a wonderful tribute to Andy! The pictures posted already and the many stories of Andy's life that will be added, will keep him "alive." I know that Andy is living a life that "I Can Only Imagine," a song written and sung by the christian group, MercyMe. For all his family and friends, I do hope and pray this website will help to heal the hearts of many after Andy's sudden passing.

Rob, you need to be commended for your work in creating this memorial website to your brother and friend. I continue to pray for Ralph, Margaret, Andy's siblings, nieces, nephews and friends who miss Andy and the amazing things that he did here on earth for so many.

Andy, Rest in Peace and know that you touched many lives wherever you were. God bless you.
